Mrs. Broadrick's Class

My name is Emily Broadrick.  I am so excited to be at LaVergne Lake!
I am from Nashville, Tennessee.  I have a Bachelor's Degree from Harding University.  I taught preschool for seven years in Nashville at Minds in Motion dayschool and Vanderbilt Child and Family Center.  I obtained my CDA through TECTA.
I started graduate school at Austin Peay University in Clarksville, TN.  I originally wanted to teach secondary Earth Science, but found out 1 1/2 semesters in that that was not a certificate that APSU does.  However, I loved my Special Education Classes. They were fascinating.  Moreover, the students won my heart.  I graduated in 2013 with a Master's in Teaching with a Special Education emphasis.

I have been teaching students with a range of issues since January, 2014.  Many of my students have had a unique diagnosis and I love finding what works for them.  The most important things for me are to help my students communicate and be as independent as possible.  I love Assistive Technology and Augmentative Alternative communication.

Here are a few of my favorite things:
Colors: Purple and blue
Store: JoAnn's, Target, Starbucks, Sonic
Hobbies: Singing, sewing, knitting, spinning yarn, reading, baking, teaching
TV: NCIS, science fiction
I have been married since September 2018.  I have one stepchild.  I have one cat (Dumbledore).

Update 4/13/2020

It is hard to believe that the Glow Run was a month ago! I miss school so much.  Today, I want to share a resource from one of my favorite sites.  Rachel Madel includes easy things that you can do at home to support your child's language development.  There are videos, pictures, and more at https://www.rachelmadel.com/corewords.
Happy Monday!
